Rock Springs Firefighters Local 1499, an affiliate of the International Association of Firefighters, is promoting its 33rd Annual Demolition Derby fundraising event slated for August 12th and 13th of 2011 at the Sweetwater Events Complex outdoor arena.
For over thirty years the City of Rock Springs professional firefighters union has collaborated with community leaders, businesses, and emergency services organizations to develop and advance our demolition derby as a unique and exciting two-night fundraising event. Throughout the year the firefighters then channel derby proceeds back into the community through numerous academic, athletic, training, fire victim, and other needs-based applications. In fact, RSFF Local 1499 has funded over $300,000 in requests over the last two decades.
This year the Demolition Derby will take place at the Sweetwater County Events Complex outdoor rodeo arena on Friday, August 12th at 7:00pm and again Saturday, August 13th at 4:00pm. There will be heats for full-size cars, modified stock cars, trucks, plus a Saturday night female-only Powder Puff event. Rules and entry forms are available on-line at www.rsff1499.com and at RSFD Station #3 on Elk Street.
Advance purchase grandstand tickets for both nights are available at the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce office (1897 Dewar Drive) with adult seating at only $16.00 and seniors/children under 12 at $10.00 per ticket, or choose the weekend package with half-off Saturday tickets. Although tickets can also be purchased at the gate, the Friday night event generally sells out, so purchase your tickets early to guarantee seating.
